Our club received a last-minute invitation to participate in the Dana Point Festival of Whales this year — big thanks to Bob Newcomer and Bob Killeen for jumping on this opportunity, and putting together a static show on such short notice!

We had seven boats, and a few more couples without their boats, hot coffee for the chilly weather, and just a few too many boxes of donuts.

Bob & Glenda Newcomer brought the hot dogs and picnic supplies, and George Finch cooked the burgers and dogs to absolute perfection.

Oh, and there were also plenty of cookies and fruit pastries.

Although the artists who were scheduled to set up next to our area canceled due to the rainy weather, we had a great time hanging out for the day, and taking turns giving attention to our newest ACBS-SoCal mascot, Rudder (adorable pictures below).

The Festival of Whales folks were so impressed with our self-contained party that they’ve already invited us back for next year, and promised they would try to order sunnier weather.
