27th Annual Bass Lake Rendezvous
The weekend of May 20th, the Northern and Southern California ACBS chapters gathered together for our 27th Annual Bass Lake Rendezvous, at this lovely lake in the Sierra National Forrest, just south of Yosemite National Park. With more than 40 boats towed in from the farthest reaches of this very long western state, we had a large and fun group of wooden and fiber-glassic boats cruising up and down the lake all weekend. The highlights started with the traditional Friday night pot luck in Cabin #1 at Miller’s Landing, with hotdogs cooked up by the friendly staff. Saturday was a full day of boating, with gorgeous sunny 80 degree weather. Sufficient sunblock was applied that no human lobsters were observed at our buffet dinner on the outdoor pool deck at the Pines Resort in the evening.
Sunday morning saw a large contingent of boaters criss-crossing the lake in search of poker cards and answers to local trivia questions. At brunch, prizes were awarded for both Best and Worst efforts at the answers, and best and worst luck with the cards.
Both our clubs thank the Bass Lake Lions, the Pines Resort, and all the volunteers who made the weekend a total blast.
